If doing yoga while streaming episodes of The League is wrong
then I’m never going to be right.
Although I should probably do my evening yoga while burning Nag Champa incense and listening to lute music, instead I’ve been streaming TV shows. The tiny pools of guilt that I felt at first at not following a more meditative process for yoga have ceased welling up. Before I started watching TV shows while doing yoga, it was difficult to be enthusiastic for it. Even a mere half hour was dreadfully dull and felt frustrating to push through.
Now, with my restless mind entertained by what is streaming, poses are held longer. When the poses are held longer, I breathe more deeply and thoroughly. I do more repetitions of the stretching moves. The whole yoga session is expanded out instead of hurried through. My mind is occupied. Worrying thoughts are calmed. My body relaxes. I feel great. If what I’m watching causes me to laugh and thus causes a pause in the flow of the yoga, it doesn’t feel like a disturbance. It’s a pleasure. The laughter actually helps with the relaxation process.
The only side-effect I’ve noticed since starting to watch TV episodes while doing yoga is that since streaming The League I’m suddenly intrigued by the idea of joining and participating in a Fantasy Football League. And that certainly can’t be right.
I’m curious at the side-effects once I start on the next “Streaming TV while doing Yoga” selection, which is Wire in the Blood. I’ll probably want to take up criminal psychology or something.
